Thieves ram-raid bottle shop

POLICE are searching for a group of thieves who ram raided a bottle shop in Casino last night.

At about 10:20pm, two cars drove up to the bottle shop section of the Charcoal Inn on Centre Street.

One of the vehicles, believed to be a Subaru Utility, reversed into the roller door, forcing it to buckle.

Thieves flooded into the shop and stole number of spirit bottles.

The hotel manager confronted the offenders, who all wore balaclavas, as they fled the scene.

Not long after, police spotted a Hyundai Sonata driving along the Bruxner Highway at Piora.

Police chased the car before it slowed down and the vehicle’s sole occupant jumped out and ran into bushland.

Anyone with information about the incident can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
