Trinity win parade

TRINITY Lismore swimmers aren’t just one of the fastest teams the Far North Coast has produced; they are also the best looking.

Competing at the NSW Country Championships in Sydney over the weekend, Trinity Lismore Swim Club became the first ever team from the Far North Coast to win the parade of competitors.

One-hundred-and-sixteen teams from across NSW paraded around the Homebush Olympic Stadium Aquatic Centre, and Trinity Lismore were judged winners on their marching, deportment and attire by a panel from NSW Swimming.

After 71 years of the championships, a Far North Coast team had finally won the coveted Speedo trophy and shield.

The accolade came on top of a highly successful year for the club which saw three swimmers qualify for the Commonwealth Games trials; eight top-20 times Australia-wide and two top-10 open water swimmers nationally.

The NSW country Championships yield included two gold medals, one silver medal, two Far North Coast records, six top-10 placings and 90 per cent of personal best times bettered.
