The search for Dorothy and the missing Martin

CALLING Dorothy Martin and the Martin family.

Sydney teacher David Nelson is trying to find more details on the late Gary Lee Martin for a reunion booklet for Alexander Mackie Teachers College in Paddington.

"We want to include details of Gary's teaching experience after 1962 for a biographical entry in the publication," he said.

A death notice in The Northern Star on May 28, 1996, said Gary Lee Martin, who died en route to hospital following an automobile accident in Pennsylvania, USA, was the husband of Dorothy (living in Lismore) and the father and father-in-law of Dain Martin and Felicity Tuohy of Warwick, Julie and Gary Warne of Ballina, Suzanne Martin, from Lismore, and Drew Martin, of Brisbane.

"My understanding is that Gary had been a primary school teacher in Lismore and before that he'd taught in Lavington (Albury North) and Kyogle," Mr Nelson said. "I also believe that he was a night-time presenter of a classical music program on the local community radio station 2NCR FM."

Mr Nelson said the Paddington college would hold a 53-year reunion in November.

"It is only recently that I found out about Gary's passing hence the timing of this inquiry. I was in the same class (section 607) as Gary," he said.

The Martin family can contact The Northern Star or Mr Nelson directly at cdnelson01@ optusnet.com.au or on (02) 9525 8598.
