Meerschaum Vale Hall's memories to be re-told with art

MEERSCHAUM Vale Hall has a proud history, and is one of the oldest community halls in the Ballina shire.

Residents said since the school, post office and the church all closed, the hall was the only remaining public place in Meerschaum Vale for the community to meet.

It's just one of the reasons why Meerschaum Vale was selected for the If These Halls Could Talk project.

Josephine Saunders, who nominated Meerschaum Vale Hall, called it the "the beating heart of our community".

"It is the place where newcomers are welcomed, the departed are farewelled and everything in between," she said.

"It houses the memories of our past and guides our future. Our sense of community will strengthen through sharing a common artistic journey, a connection that may not have happened otherwise."
