A cancer fundraiser with a colourful twist

A SPLASH of Pink promises to be a fun LGTBI-friendly event fundraiser for the Crackin' Cancer Compassionate Fund.

The show will be held tomorrow and all proceeds will go to Lismore oncology services.

MC for the night will be legendary local entertainer Maude Boate, with music by DJ BJ.

One of the performers of the evening will be gender illusionist Saphira von Wilde, aka Lismore's Beau Dachs.

Saphira von Wilde was crowned the winner of the Coffs Harbour Drag Idol competition, held last week in Coffs Harbour.

"It is great to have confirmation that I am doing something right. It's recognition that I am doing the right thing with my life," he said.

Mr Dachs, 20, has been a gender illusionist for four years.

He said a serious side to tomorrow's show is the importance to give back to the community.

"I'm interested in doing work for the community, using my skills as a performer to raise money for cancer research and to help cancer patients," he said.

"I've lost a few people to cancer. It is an issue that is close to my heart."

At the Lismore City Bowls Club tomorrow from 8.30pm. $12 at the door.
