Locals invited to offer tribute to retiring Governor
LISMORE MP Thomas George is encouraging people to come in to his office and write in a tribute book for Her Excellency Dame Marie Bashir who retires as NSW Governor on October 1.
"Dame Marie is the second longest serving Governor of New South Wales in our 226- year history, having served since 2001," Mr George said.
"(She) has visited Lismore a number of times. She was always very generous with her time and loved to get out among the community and talk to everyday people about their lives... Dame Marie is truly the People's Governor and a remarkable Australian."
The tribute book will be available until Sunday, September 21.
