Tevez inks deal in China worth $1.05m ... a week
ARGENTINE international striker Carlos Tevez is the world's highest-paid footballer after signing a new deal with Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua.
Tevez, who married childhood sweetheart Vanesa Mansilla last week, will earn an estimated $1.05 million a week after leaving his boyhood club Boca Juniors.
The 32-year-old will have a medical before meeting his new teammates and coach Gus Poyet, the former Chelsea and Spurs manager who took over at Shenhua last month.
Boca Juniors put a message on social media that said: "Good luck Carlitos. You will always be in our hearts.”
Tevez, who starred for Manchester United, Manchester City and West Ham United, scored 25 goals in 56 matches in his second spell at Boca after returning last year, helping the club to win Argentina's Primera Division and the Copa Argentina.
His signing continues the Chinese club's spending spree after it splashed the cash on star names such as former Chelsea striker Demba Ba, Newcastle United old boy Obafemi Martins and ex-Inter Milan man Fredy Guarin.
Shenhua finished fourth in the Chinese Super League in 2016.
