Terrifying video shows brown snake launching at camera

FOR anyone who's afraid of snakes, seeing them slither away can be scary.

So seeing a highly-venomous brown snake coming towards you in slow motion, head raised and ready to strike, can be utterly terrifying.

Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7 captured this footage of "defensive behaviour" during a release at a Rosemount property on Sunday.

"It's important to note, he isn't chasing me!" the post on the group's Facebook page read.

"I'm getting right up in his personal space, and he's flaring up to get me away, and as I move back he turns away to escape, until I approach him again."

The snake was the smaller of two found in a shed on the property, 12km west of Maroochydore.

"Upon arrival, I searched around for a while before opening a cupboard and finding not one, but two eastern browns curled up together.

"One was an absolute monster, thickest brown I've seen!"
