Telstra staff Stress Down in pj's
IF you see Telstra Call Centre staff in Goonellabah arriving at work in dressing gowns, pyjamas and slippers tomorrow, don’t be alarmed.
They’re not sleeping on the job, but are participating in Lifeline’s Stress Down Day on Friday, 22 July.
Stress Down Day is Lifeline’s only national fundraising campaign and Telstra Call Centre staff are looking forward to seeing who has the fluffiest slippers, most colorful PJs and the most exotic dressing gown.
Staff will also be provided with guided visualisation sessions which offer step by step relaxations for body and mind.
Employees will also be learning breathing techniques to help them take time out from life’s stresses, while 15 minute massages are also on offer.
Telstra Country Wide Area General Manager for North Coast NSW, Sue Passmore, said Stress Down Day is fun with the monies raised going to a good cause.
“It’s great to see the Call Centre staff enthusiastically supporting Lifeline Northern Rivers,” said Ms Passmore.
“Telstra Country Wide is aware of the important role Lifeline Northern Rivers plays in the local community and we are pleased to support this fundraising initiative.
“The cost of delivering Lifeline’s 24 hour crisis support service is currently $31 million. The Federal Government covers 22 per cent of these costs, so more than $24 million is needed from fundraising to keep the services running,” she said.
“Our staff are pitching in to help Lifeline answer more calls and provide mental health, suicide prevention and crisis support services to Australians in need.”
