Teenager threatened with replica gun in Tweed Heads

A PIZZA delivery driver was threatened with a handgun at Tweed Heads on Saturday night police reported.

A 17-year-old driver was delivering an order to Kennedy Drive about 7.45pm when he was approached by a man.

As the driver opened his door, the man allegedly held a gun to the teenager's head.

The driver accelerated away and alerted police.

Officers attached to the Tweed/Byron Targeted Action Group (TAG) patrolled the area and arrested a 34-year-old man at a service station nearby a short time later.

Police will allege the man was in possession of a kitchen knife and three replica firearms.

He was arrested and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station where he was charged with unauthorised possession of a prohibited firearm, custody of a knife in a public place, and assault.

The man was refused bail to appear in Tweed Heads Local Court late yesterday.
