A 19-year-old has been charged with Skye's Law after a police pursuit through Ballina yesterday.

At about 1.45pm, police attempted to stop a Holden Commodore in Norton Street, Ballina, but it continued on its course and a pursuit commenced.

Police tailed the Commodore through the township before it was terminated and they allege the vehicle sped above the sign-posted limits.

Not long after the pursuit, police located the alleged driver in the company of three other males outside a hotel. They were arrested and taken to Ballina Police Station.

The alleged driver was charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously (Skye's Law), drive in a manner dangerous, drive whilst disqualified and special range PCA.

The man was refused bail and is due to appear at Ballina Local Court today.

The three other males were released without charge.
