Teen faces murder charge over bungled break-in

AN ALLEGED thief accused of brutally bashing an innocent man to death in a bungled break-in on the NSW Central Coast has been charged with murder.

Bill Gogas, 53, was found lying in his Wyong home with serious head injuries on Friday, October 26.

He died in hospital.

Detectives formed Strike Force Shadwell to investigate the death and on Thursday morning an 18-year-old Silverwater man was arrested.

He will front the Wyong Local Court tomorrow charged with murder, special aggravated break and enter and inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.

Investigating officer Detective Inspector David Waddell said the attack was particularly disturbing as it appeared Mr Gogas had been the innocent victim of a break and enter who disturbed the offenders and as a result was viciously assaulted and killed.

He said investigations were continuing and police expected to make more arrests.
