Teen boy dies of heat exhaustion during hiking trip

CHRISTMAS holiday fun turned deadly for a Scottish boy who died of heat exhaustion on a Western Australian hiking adventure on the weekend.

The 14-year-old boy was bushwalking with his father south of Exmouth when he collapsed and could not be revived.

It's believed the pair was not equipped for hiking in scorching heat.

According to ABC News they were gone for hours with little water.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
