13 more child sex charges laid against ex-Woodlawn teacher

POLICE have laid 13 additional child sex related charges against former St Johns College Woodlawn teacher Richard O'Connor as further claimed victims come forward.

O'Connor, 74, now faces 49 charges relating to 13 claimed victims for offences police allege were committed between 1978 and 1989, after he was initially charged with 36 counts relating to 10 victims.

Allegations include he had non-consensual sex with some victims, incited some victims to masturbate in front of him and incited some to touch his penis.

Yesterday Lismore Local Court heard O'Connor had been moved to Cessnock jail form Sydney's Long Bay jail hospital.

His solicitor Hugh Van Dugteren said he had received a sizable brief of evidence against O'Connor, and asked for a six-eight week adjournment to allow for negotiations with the prosecution.

Magistrate David Heilpern noted the size of the brief and the fact the allegations against O'Connor were historical matters, when he adjourned the case until November.
