Taverners to talk the talk

IT’S not often you get an Australian cricket captain, international soccer and rugby league players and an ABC international cricket expert in the same room at the same time.

The Lord’s Taverners Northern NSW branch has managed to do it.

On Friday, August 20, at Invercauld House, Goonellabah, the Tav-erners will host a Top Sports Night with guests Jodie Fields (cricket), Craig Foster (soccer), Kevin Junee (rugby league) and Jim Maxwell (ABC cricket commentator) to be interviewed by Lismore-based ABC journalist Bruce Mackenzie.

There will also be auctions and raffles of sports memorabilia.

The Lord’s Taverners is a benevolent organisation whose motto is to ‘give the young and disadvantaged a sporting chance’.

The night will raise money to sponsor young sportsmen and women, organise coaching clinics and support disabled athletes.

Tickets are available from Horton in Lismore or from Summerland Sports at Casino and Ballina.

Otherwise, contact Neil Hellyar on 0417-572291 or go to www.lordstaverners-northernnsw.com.au
