Talents recognised

EVANS River Year 10 student Bianca Phillips has been formally recognised for her achievements in the sport of judo.

The Bungawalbin resident received her State Representative Certificate from Nationals MP Chris Gulaptis in recognition of her selection to represent NSW at the 2012 Australian National Judo Championships.

She was named champion in the Cadet Women's +70kg division and came second in the Young Women's Under-78kg division in the Oceania Judo Championships 2012.

Unfortunately a shoulder injury, which occurred during a school rugby union gala day at Woodlawn, means Bianca won't be doing any more judo or football for the rest of the year.

"Her shoulder isn't healing well, so she is having an operation to fix it," liaison officer Lyn Thomson said.
