Take a day to love Keswick Island

LOOKING for an island getaway, just for a day?

Guaranteed departure day trips to Keswick Island, departing from Mackay Marina, will launch September 5, and run every Saturday and Sunday.

Mackay Tourism general manager Stephen Schwer said now was a great time for the Mackay region.

"I can't wait to have Keswick Island day trips started up again," Mr Schwer said.

"They've got some great plans for the island.

"I look forward to everyone in the local area supporting those day trips and having a great time on what is an absolutely beautiful and pristine island."

There are a variety of options which will be available from September 5 allowing Mackay residents and tourists alike increased access to the island. Boat day trips with Megaforce Charters will cost $130 for adults and include a full day out with free time to explore the island, water sports, bushwalks, a barbecue lunch and fish feeding.

Mr Schwer said he hoped Mackay residents realised just how much they had on their doorsteps and supported new initiatives.

"What I think is really exciting is the amount of investment activity that's going on in the region," he said.

"We've got this aqua fun park proposed for Mackay, we've got Sarina Sugar Shed, we've got the Go Wake Cable Park, we've got all these wonderful things.

"Now we've got another thing to add to this which is daytrips to Keswick Island so it's a really exciting time for the region."
