Swell waves roll in for jr surfers

WITH some decent swell about and howling offshore winds, this round saw a great show of competitors with the last final getting out of the water about 2pm.

Main beach was the only place showing some promise in the morning. But as the tide got lower there were some nice three foot waves on the bar and, if you were lucky, a couple of barrels about.

Alex Mckendrick managed to snavel the wave of the day that posted mostly nines from the judges.

There was a great turnout for the Microgroms with a full six-person heat on the inside. Some of these youngsters are showing great gusto in testing conditions.

Congrats to Kevy, the oldest grommet in Evans Head, for taking out both divisions.
