Kirstin Ogden takes out GromSearch

SURFERS from the Far North Coast have continued their summer assault with 14-year-old Kirstin Ogden the latest to impress on the big stage.

The Byron Bay local took out the under-14 and under-16 divisions of the Rip Curl GromSearch at North Cronulla Beach during the week, earning a spot in the national final to be held at Bells Beach during the Rip Curl Pro in early April.

Another future star from Lennox Head was also unearthed in 14-year-old Stephanie Single.

Single also surfed in both the under-16 and under-14 divisions, finishing fourth and second respectively.

Meanwhile, the leading lady of Lennox surfing, Tyler Wright, continues her charge towards a repeat victory at the ISA World Junior Championships at Piha Beach, New Zealand.

Wright has progressed through the qualifying rounds without a hiccup and will surf in the final today against Western Australian Felicity Palmateer, Hawaii’s Malia Manuel and Sarah Baum of South Africa.
