Owen Wright breaks records in Fiji
PRO surfer Owen Wright has become the first competitor to score two perfect heats in a single event on his way to winning the Fiji stop on the World Surf League Championship Tour.
"Ohh man! Wow, that just really turned it on out there for me!" he said.
"Something really special just happened out there and to finish with a couple of 10s, that's a dream come true.
"Man, it feels good!!"
Wright, whose family moved to Lennox Head several years ago, laid down two perfect 10 rides in the fifth round to dismantle his Lennox mate Adam Melling at Cloudbreak in Fiji.
Wright then dominated compatriot Julian Wilson in the final with a history- making second perfect heat.
"I'm stoked to be back up on the podium and wouldn't be here without all the support back home," he said. "It's just perfect. You can't really say any-thing more."
