Records smashed at Grafton Bridge to Bridge

IT WAS a perfect day for water skiing and the record books reflect that after the Grafton Bridge to Bridge saw Superman smash the superclass record by almost one minute.

But the superhero crew was not alone with Fast Nuts breaking the 60MPH class record, and No Fear stealing away to be faster than any times in the Under 225hp (previously 200hp) event.

In the 60MPH class Fast Nuts (Rex Linden, Dennis McDonough) blitzed the competition and crossed the finish line just past the hour mark with an official time of 65.12.65. This time improved on 2004 runners and record setters Get Em Up by 54 seconds.

In the Under 225hp division which is a reshape of the old 200hp class the team on board No Fear including driver Patrick Slark and observer Mel Smidt smashed the 200mph record set by the same team in 2013.

No Fear crossed the finish line under the 50 minute mark at 49.30.00 which beat their previous record by more than a minute.

The team on Prima Donna including skiers Shantelle King and Karen White who were favourites to take out their division also came within a whisker of breaking a new record on Sunday, settling for the second best run by 15 seconds running the race in 42.51.80.
