Supercar to lead runners around route

IT'S not often a fun run needs a pace car. But that's exactly what the Southern Cross University Darrel Chapman Fun Run will have this Sunday.

A replica of V8 Supercar driver Jamie Whincup's Ford BF will act as official pace car for the event that hopes to draw 400 runners to East Lismore.

There was a whisper that Whincup may make a surprise appearance but organisers have been unable to confirm the rumour.

There are six different categories for the event with two different race distances; the 3km and 6km. Registrations open at 7am on Sunday with the starter's gun set for 9am.

The runners will follow the Supercar around the track.

Entry forms are available from the SCU Unibar or SCU gym and monies can be paid at Summerland Credit Union on the SCU campus.

On the day registration is also available with children under 16 charged $10 and all other competitors charged $12.

Teams of five can be entered for $40, while a family entry for two adults and two children costs $25.

This is the 13th year the DCFR has been held and all money raised is donated to Our Kids.
