Super Bindi has her sights set on a soaring role in movies

WE'RE used to seeing her in her khakis, but Bindi Irwin dreams of trading them in for lycra in her next film.

She plays spirited conservationist Nim, in Return To Nim's Island, the sequel to the 2008 Nim's Island, but she would love to play a superhero in her next film.

"Wouldn't it be fun to fly?" she said with the enthusiasm of a 14-year-old.

"Maybe in the next film Nim could fly around the island?"

Handpicked for the role which was filmed around the Gold Coast and Byron Bay, she was a natural fit for Nim.

"Nim is trying to save her island from being turned into a resort and I am trying to save Steve Irwin Wildlife Reserve in Cape York from being strip-mined," she said.

The film has a strong message of conservation. The premiere of Return To Nim's Island will be at Australia Zoo on Saturday March 17. Tickets are available from www.australiazoo.com.au.
