Sunshine helps our traders

WITH good weather comes good business according to Evans Head business owners. A sunny change from last year has seen an increase in holiday makers and day trippers to Evans Head during the Christmas holidays.

Rhona Halliwell, owner of The Sandwich Shack, said there had been a vast improvement from last year.

"There has been a 75% improvement from last year and the weather has everything to do with it," she said.

"Last year campers were washed out but this year the weather has been kind. There have been many people just coming down for the day to enjoy the beach."

Shane Todd, owner of the recently opened Spar, said the weather was always the critical factor for holiday makers.

"People really appreciate the good weather, the streets look busy again," Mr Todd said.

"We have had a lot public support and we have made ourselves very competitive with a great location and fresh produce."

Debbie Stoker, owner of Riverfront Kiosk, said the holidays had been great for business despite the recent downpour.

"We have had a great holiday season this year and you have to take the good with the bad."
