Summer league kicks on

THE second season of the Football Far North Coast Summer Youth League has almost reached the halfway stage, with five rounds having been completed.

Maclean and Yamba have joined the competition this year and both teams are enjoying the competitive nature of soccer being played.

The front-runners are Italo Stars, Thistles, Alstonville and Maclean, with 12 teams competing and only one round to determine the winner. Almost every game is being played at a fast pace, expected of a competition that included players between 15 years and 20 years, many with Premier Division experience.

Some over-age experienced players have also been included to mentor the young footballers.

Tursa Employment and Training have again put their support behind local sport by sponsoring this event.

The competition is played each Friday night and will continue until December 18.
