The sugar debate continues - to eat or not to eat?

IN A controversial move that could affect the sugar industry in Mackay, the World Health Organisation (WHO) is considering slashing the amount of sugar that it recommends people should consume by half.

The sugar debate has been raging for a number of years with books on how to quit sugar and clean eating becoming vogue, but this would be one of the first times WHO has thrown their weight behind the debate.

Currently the guidelines recommend people should only get 10% of their daily calories from sugar - the new proposal would bring this down to 5%.
