Submissions open on NSW greyhound racing inquiry

ANIMAL welfare, breeding regulations and doping will be the focus of a parliamentary inquiry into the NSW greyhound racing industry.

Public submissions are open until November 6 when the NSW Upper House will consider whether it is time to review how the industry is regulated.

Calls for an inquiry came earlier this year amid concerns about the sale and breeding of greyhounds for racing and the rates of injury and euthanasia.

The committee will examine the economic viability of the industry, the effectiveness and accountability of the board and management and the integrity of recorded data including the number of pups born every year.
