Submission extension for Kings

THE NSW Department of Planning has extended the submission period for a major development planned for Kings Forest.

Stage one of the 4500-lot Leda Property Group development at Kings Forest was to be exhibited until December 23 but after requests to extend the submission date the department has advertised that it would accept submissions until January 25.

Concerned residents wanted an extension until the end of February so they had time to review the 'complex application' over the Christmas period.

The announcement of the extension came from the NSW Department of Planning on Friday, a day before a protest on the Kings Forest Site to save the koala populations.

Northern Rivers Guardians spokeswoman Andrea Vickers said more than 60 people came to the rally.

"NRG has repeated its call to the planning minister, Brad Hazzard, to extend the deadline for public submissions until February 23," Ms Vickers said.

"The community deserves the opportunity to properly digest and respond to the latest proposals.

"The bottom line is we need to find ways for community and businesses to work together, so we can all live together in the long run."
