Suarez goes from Barca hero to villain

FOOTBALL: Luis Suarez's goal has helped Barcelona to the Copa del Rey final, but he won't be playing in the game after being sent off in the semi against Atletico Madrid.

Suarez was one of two Barcelona players to see red in a spiteful game at the Nou Camp, during which Atletico also had a man sent off in the 1-1 draw.

The draw in the second leg was enough to see the Catalan giant through to the decider against either Celta Vigo or Alaves in May after winning the tie 3-2 on aggregate.

Suarez scored the opener two minutes from half-time before Barcelona's Sergi Roberto and Atletico's Yannick Carrasco both were shown two yellow cards.

Substitute Kevin Gameiro missed a penalty before equalising late on for Atletico.

Suarez went from hero to villain in the final three minutes, getting a yellow card for a clear foul before another caution, this time for a debatable elbow on an opponent.

Barca was forced to defend grimly in injury time, with Antoine Griezmann having a goal wrongly disallowed for offside.
