Taekwondo students' striking success at Aus champs

BALLINA ITF Taekwondo has returned from the Australian Taekwondo Championships as champions.

Ten of the martial art school's competitors were crowned Australian champions after competing in the event on June 6.

Seven of the school's competitors also qualified for the London World Championships in July next year, while two under-12 competitors qualified for the London 2016 World Cup.

Instructor Marc Bagatan was thrilled with the result.

"This is without question our best result ever and we are immensely proud of all our competitors," he said.

"Our team of just fifteen competitors outperformed across a number of taekwondo disciplines and came home with a total of 26 medals.

"They thoroughly deserve all the accolades and recognition now coming their way."

The martial art school's fundraising efforts for its London trip will kick off with a Trivia Night at Tintenbar Hall on July 25.
