Strong wind warning for Cape Byron

THE Bureau of Meteorology has issued a strong wind warning for the Far North Coast, from Point Danger to Cape Byron.

A strong high pressure system is centred over Bass Strait, with a ridge extending along the New South Wales coast.

South to southeasterly winds increasing to 20 to 30 knots this afternoon, easing tomorrow.

Seas rising two to three metres. East to southeast swell to 1.5 metres.

Wind gusts can be a further 40 per cent stronger than the averages given here, and maximum waves may be up to twice the height.
