Strong Man titles coming to Lismore

THE Australia’s Strongest Man Titles to be held in Lismore this weekend firmly establishes Lismore as the focus for entry into the World Strongest Man contest this year in the United States in September, event co-coordinator, Severino Da Roit announced today.

“The winner of the Lismore Australian Strongman Title to be held in Keen St and at Oakes Oval  will automatically be given a place to compete for the world title, “Mr Da Roit said.

“This is only the second time that we have held the Australian Titles in the Lismore CBD, and it’s fantastic that Lismore has been given this world recognition”.

Co-organiser of the Lismore  event, Mr Bill Lyndon of Aussiepower, said that top athletes from around Australia will continue to strive for excellence in their sport and will seek to compete in Lismore in future years.

“In the past, athletes were compelled to travel overseas to compete in other countries to seek to win a berth in the world Titles,”Mr  Lyndon said.

Ït is fantastic news to learn that  the winner of Australia’s Strongest Man title in Lismore wins direct entry to this years World‘s Strongest Man event" .

"This is a very big move for strongman down under as its recognizes the effort and structure that has been established”.

Da Roit confirmed that some 14 Athletes will travel to Lismore to compete this weekend. Events start with a truck pull in Keen St on Saturday at 11 am, and will continue at Oakes Oval from 11 am on Sunday.

Money raised from entry to Oakes Oval will go to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
