Heads up Casino, a storm cell is heading your way.

NORTH Coast Storm Chasers have posted a warning to Casino and surrounding areas for a storm cell headed their way.

"A supercell is forming to the SW of Casino it has rapidly intensified on radar and has a solid purple core which means that this baby could have very large hail inside it along with damaging winds, very frequent lightning and very intense rainfall," the post said.

"This storm is very very slowly tracking E / NE possibly to move into Casino however at this stage because it is moving so slow it might kill itself with cool outflow winds."

THE storm season continues in the Northern Rivers with a recent warning issued from the Bureau of Meteorology for large hailstones, damaging wind and heavy rainfall.

The area under the warning includes the North West Slopes and Plains, Northern Tablelands and parts of the Northern Rivers, Mid North Coast and Hunter Forecast Districts.

It was issued at 1:56 pm Tuesday, 1 December 2015.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce large hailstones, damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours.

Locations which may be affected include Armidale, Tenterfield, Tamworth, Gunnedah, Moree and Narrabri.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:

* Move your car under cover or away from trees.

* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.

* Keep clear of fallen power lines.

* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.

* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.

* If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.

* Unplug computers and appliances.

* Avoid using the phone during the storm.

* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.

* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500.
