Stolen beer worth $80,000 recovered

POLICE investigating the theft of more than 3000 cartons of beer last weekend have recovered most of the ale from a south-western Sydney garage.

State Crime Command's Property Crime Squad has been investigating the theft of a B-double trailer, containing 3193 cartons of beer, from Wetherill Park between Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.

Containing various brews, the cartons are valued at more than $80,000.

Earlier this week, the Property Crime Squad and Campsie Local Area Command executed a search warrant at a home in Moreton Street, Lakemba.

Almost 3000 cartons of beer were located inside the garage and seized by police. Inquiries into the outstanding cartons are continuing.

Detectives are now investigating whether the stolen beer was bound for a south-western Sydney bottle shop.

Police anticipate charges will be laid soon.
