Man fined for stealing nine knobs

IMAGINE being accused of smashing a window and stealing nine doorknobs from a house - but not remembering doing it.

This is exactly what happened to Cameron Graham Boshell, who was fined more than $1500 in Gladstone Magistrates Court yesterday for a crime he can't remember committing.

DNA evidence led police to find Boshell, who doesn't reside in Gladstone, and charge him for the offence.

On April 27, 2009, Boshell smashed the window of a recently completed house in Eucalypt Place.

He then stole nine doorknobs, collectively worth $342, from the residence.

Boshell has friends who live a few doors down.

Yesterday he was fined $1542.
