BYRON Bay surfer Luke Stickley has won the Ben King Memorial Surf Classic.

Stickley was announced as the winner at the presentation at the Great Northern Hotel in Byron Bay on Monday night.

He was the Byron Bay Boardriders club champion last year and took home $3000 for the win.

It keeps the top prize in the club for the fourth consecutive year after Garrett Parkes won the last three events.

The three-day contest was held on the long weekend for the first time and was formerly an Easter event.

Lennox Head surfer Stephanie Single won the open women's section.

Surf legend Wayne "Rabbit" Bartholomew won the over-50s.

There was an increase in prizemoney this year thanks to local sponsors taking it from $6500 to more than $10, 000.
