Start date for work on new $15m Bonalbo health service

MORE than $15 million will be spent on a new multi-purpose health service for Bonalbo.

The announcement was made by Lismore MP Thomas George this morning, and he said work on the project will begin mid next year.

"This is fantastic news for the local community which represents an enhancement of local health services," he said.

"Multi Purpose Services are much-loved by communities because of its approach to delivering the specific care local residents need.

"It can provide emergency care, inpatient beds, palliative care, respite care, residential aged care for those with low level dementia, provision for visiting specialists and a range of primary, community and ambulatory care services appropriate for our community."

Planning for the new facility is expected to be finalised by the end of the year and consultation will begin next month.
