NORTHERN Star will head into the Ballina District Cricket Twenty20 semi-finals in first place after a hard fought 14-run win over Barlow's Bolt Barn on Friday night at Fripp Oval.

In this top-of-the-table clash, the Star batted first and reached 8-128 from their 20 overs on a slow and damp outfield.

Allrounder Sam Adams hit 54 runs for the Star as Bolt Barn's Brad Robertson (54) led the way in his side's unsuccessful chase.

Star captain Steve Robb took 2-13.

"Nathan Anson didn't play this game for the Bolt Barn which helped us," he said.

In the other match Davey Pumps got their first win of the season, beating the Shaws Bay Hotel comfortably by six wickets.

The Pumpers got to their target of 86 in just the ninth over.

In the semi-finals this Friday, the second-placed Bolt Barn will play the Pumpers at 4.30pm and the first-placed Northern Star will take on the fourth-placed Shawsy at 7.30pm.
