Star, Glee grab hockey glory in hockey grand finals
MATT Frost broke Coraki hearts while Glee racked up yet another triumph on a thrilling FNC Hockey grand finals day.
Frost struck with six minutes left of the men's decider to help his Northern Star team secure a 1-0 victory over battling Coraki.
Saturday's win meant Star, who has dominated the division over the last few seasons, added more silverware to their cabinet.
It was a tense affair at the Goonellabah turf, with Star's Matt Harmon having the only real chance in the first half.
His penalty shot was saved by Star's Cameron Horne.
Play went from end to end in the second half but neither side could claim a goal.
Standout players for Coraki were Trent Brown and Cameron Horne.
Best for Star were Ryan McGuiness and Thomas Vanataggiato.
Meanwhile, Glee chalked up a 13th consecutive grand final victory with a hard-fought 3-2 win over battling Ballina.
Kim Chappell put Glee in the lead but Corrine Busse equalised from a penalty corner for the seasiders.
Play continued from end to end into the second half before Nicole Danvers put Glee back in front.
A neat finish from Cassie Hughes seemed to have wrapped things up for Glee but Ballina fought back again with a goal from Michelle Anderson.
