Neighbours object to trading hours

AN APPLICATION for extended trading hours at a new liquor outlet at the yet-to-be-built Ritchies IGA in Kyogle has been dropped by developer Nigel Mercer after neighbours made formal objections to the Liquor Licensing Board.

The developer’s application to transfer the licence from the old Kyogle Liquor and Sports Supply, which closed earlier this year, to the supermarket will be heard in the NSW Licensing Court in two weeks.

Assault arrests

POLICE have arrested and charged two 17-year-old males from Casino with causing actual bodily harm in company of others, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray.

Police will allege a group of men approached a 16-year-old male and his girlfriend while they were walking in Barker Street, Casino, about 4pm on Thursday.

The male victim was treated at hospital for his injuries, including concussion, bruising to the majority of his body, lacerations to his knees, arms, hands and elbow, swelling to the head and numerous lumps.

Police investigations into the incident are continuing.

P-plater charged

POLICE have charged a red P-plate driver with speeding dangerously after his 1993 Mitsubishi was detected travelling at 116km/h in a 50km/h zone on the Bruxner Highway at Mummulgum on Sunday afternoon.

At the time the driver had two young passengers.
