RESIDENTS should brace for a severe fire season across the State, NSW Premier Nathan Rees has warned.
Mr Rees said fire authorities were prepared for the fire season, but warned a looming El Niño cycle on the back of low winter rainfall and a warm spring pointed to what could be 'our worst summer in years'.
“It is vital that families take the time to clear flammable materials from their property, including cleaning out gutters and cutting back shrubs and trees,” he said.
In the coming weeks the State Government would launch an education campaign on new warning systems developed after the Black Saturday fires in Victoria.Manager awarded
