Stallholder to face court after cop seizes illegal slingshots
A STALLHOLDER at the Ballina Country Music Festival will face court after police seized 36 illegal slingshots from his stall.
Police from the Richmond Local Area Command said a Ballina police Sergeant, walking through the stalls as they were setting up for the festival, noticed one stall had two varieties of the sling shots for sale.
The sergeant confiscated the sling shots and issued a 42 year-old Queensland man with a court attendance notice for possessing a prohibited weapon without permit.
It is an offence to possess a sling shot, or shanghai as they are also known, in a public place.
