SPORT plays a very big part in the lives of Casino residents

SPORT plays a very big part in the lives of Casino residents and with this in mind the Northern Co-operative Meat Company (NCMC) has stepped up to the plate.

"The things that matter to NCMC are the same things that matter to our customers and staff - like being an active and positive member of the community," John Seccombe said.

"Sponsorship is one of the many ways we can contribute in our local community."

NCMC provided the opportunity to local sporting associations to submit an expression of interest for sponsorship.

A set of criteria was provided and 12 sporting clubs within the local area submitted an interest.

Last week, Seccombe presented cheques to representatives of the four clubs that were selected by a committee made up of management and employees to receive a total combined sponsorship of $8500.

The clubs were Casino RSM Junior Rugby League Football Club, Casino District Junior Cricket Club, Casino Town Tennis Club Inc. and Casino Physical Culture Club.

NCMC also offered to assist those clubs who did not receive major sponsorship, via the supply of sausages from a local butcher at their next fundraiser.

Geoff Scofield from the junior cricket club, on behalf of the clubs, thanked Mr Seccombe for the contribution made by NCMC to the sporting clubs and for supporting the community.
