Spectacular storm as weather turns cold
STORMS lashed the Northern Rivers overnight, and reader Mark Heath sent us this spectacular photo of the storm, taken from the Evans Head lookout.
Rain, lightning and thunder were also reported in many areas, including Lismore, Ballina, Lennox Head and Byron Bay.
The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted more rain today, particularly in coastal areas, with the chance of thunderstorms.
The temperatures are turning wintry too, with Lismore expected to reach a top of 21 degrees and Ballina and Byron Bay both expected to reach 22 degrees.
The Bureau is also warning of dangerous surf conditions over the next couple of days.
The weather should clear slightly by the weekend, with scattered showers and light south-easterly winds forecast for the Northern Rivers on Saturday and Sunday.
