Special gift off to Santa
KYRA Wilkinson, from Newrybar, says she's been very good this year.
In fact, she is so nice, she wanted to give Santa a present.
The five-year-old yesterday popped a drawing she did of the jolly fellow in the red suit into the special Santa's mailbox at Ballina Fair shopping centre.
And, of course, she included a Christmas present wish list, with a Lalaloopsy doll the priority.
The staff at Ballina Fair have arranged special delivery of the mail direct to the Santa at the North Pole.
Retail marketing manager, Joanna Wilkinson, said youngsters needed to get their letters in to Santa by noon on Monday, as that will be the last delivery.
She said Santa had been in contact with Fair staff, and let them know some of the things the 80 or so children who have posted letters at the shopping centre have asked.
"Santa told us that the kids want to know if he always wears red, and they've asked what he would like as a treat when he makes his deliveries, and what the reindeer would like to eat," she said.
Some of the kids, she said, have included a check-box so Santa can select his choice of treat - but no one has asked if he would like beer.
She said Santa replies to the letters posted at Ballina Fair.
The Northern Star was able to gain an interview with Santa during what is his busiest time of year.
"I am very, very impressed with the number of children on the North Coast who have been very good this year," he said.
"And they can look forward to a surprise under the Christmas tree after I visit.
"Ho, ho, ho and merry Christmas to all."
