South Lismore to become a Winter Wonderland
SOUTH Lismore businesses are taking advantage of the influx of people for the Lismore Lantern Parade by hosting the first ever Winter Wonderland fashion extravaganza.
Fashion designer Jeht Burgoyne will be hosting the fashion event at her Flourish Designer Studio in South Lismore on Friday, June 20.
Lismore City Centre manager Jason Mumford said the fashion event was a great way to boost local businesses.
"This is a glowing example of show businesses can embrace a signature event, like the Lantern Parade, and develop smaller, complementary events around it," he said.
The Winter Wonderland event will kick off at 6.30pm with the fashion show to start at 7.30pm.
Ms Burgoyne said the event would showcase the latest 2014 range under the label Flourish and welcome Dayle Morrison's label Crafty Creatrix to the studio.
"The show will also feature hats and fascinators by Miss Pink, hair, styling and beauty by Affordable Beauty, works by local artists, and live music by local musicians," she said.
Six models will be showcasing the designs aimed at all ages from daughters to mothers and grandmothers.
Ms Burgoyne described the fashion pieces at feminine, elegant, lacy, hand dyed and floral, with all the clothing hand-made on the premises.
Affordable Beauty in South Lismore will be providing make-up and styling for the models.
Ms Burgoyne said several new businesses and the revamping of established businesses in South Lismore were "reinvigorating the area".
"Affordable Beauty is undergoing some solid business growth, the Station Hotel is under new management and ownership and with the recent opening of TMW Workwear, it's injecting new life into this wonderful precinct," she said.
"It's great to see this area across the river from the CBD doing so well."
