KARIN Taylor has scored her second Photo of the Day this week with this stunning picture of a blue-banded bee, taken in a neighbour's front garden at Lennox Head using her iPhone, for which she has a special macro lens.

Karin says these bees, unlike the European honey bee most of us know so well have no hive but build solitary shelters near one another. She says the bees are also very shy - this is only the second photo she has ever been able to take of one.

You can see more of Karin's amazing macro photography on her Eyeem page. She's also a gifted artist - you can see her paintings here.

Photo of the Day celebrates the beauty of the Northern Rivers and the talent of the region's photographers. As well as appearing her, it is published on Page 2 of our print edition, used as the cover image on our Facebook page and forms part of an expanding photo gallery, which you can see below.

To submit an image for Photo of the Day, simply share it on our Facebook page.

We have five photos to choose from for tomorrow's Photo of the Day. Have a look at the poll below and pick your favourite. You can see bigger versions of the pictures here or by hitting the gallery link above the thumbnails.

Voting closes at noon.
