Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou prepared for anything
SOCCERPOOS coach Ange Postecoglou will leave nothing to chance when his team takes on Kyrgyzstan in the opening World Cup qualifier next month.
The Asian Cup-winning coach said Australia, which has never played the eastern European team before, would travel to Bishkek on June 16 well prepared.
"No Australian football team has ever been to Kyrgyzstan, so we have done a lot of research, including a reconnaissance trip to Bishkek, to make sure we are well prepared for what will not be an easy task," Postecoglou said.
"We go to Bishkek with the utmost respect for Kyrgyzstan and we know that we will have to be at our best to get off to a winning start."
Postecoglou has named a full-strength squad for the assignment, which will include a one-week camp in Dubai before taking on Kyrgyzstan, which is ranked 153rd in the world.
There was no spot in the 23-man squad for Aaron Mooy, Adam Federici and Luke Devere, while Lazio's Chris Ikonomidis gets another chance to show what he has to offer.
