Soccer: Tanya flies the flag for young FNC refs

FORMER Lismore soccer referee Tanya de Boer will be back in town for Football Far North Coast's annual referee seminar.

de Boer moved to Newcastle in 2009 and is now a qualified FIFA assistant referee.

She is married to leading Northern NSW referee Glen Peterkin and is the Northern NSW Football fitness officer.

de Boer and Peterkin will be joined at the seminar by Northern NSW referee development and technical director Luke Davies, with each giving presentations to local referees in the lead-up to the 2016 season.

The seminar is for registered and qualified match officials.

A course for new referees will be held on Sunday, February 21, from 10am to 5pm and Monday, February 22, from 6pm to 9pm.

All participants will be required to attend both sessions to complete the course.

The venue is the Southern Cross Football Centre at East Lismore

The course costs $50, which includes various resources and teaching material.

Participants need to be at least 13 years old before May 1 (participants cannot be appointed on matches until they turn 13).
