Smithy’s door stamp of days past

IN 1920 Bill Rogan bought the blacksmith shop at Wiangarie from George McCulley.

Bill was a skilful maker of cattle and timber brands. Each time he made a brand for a customer, Bill would stamp it on his shop door.

His son Norm and grandsons Russell and Warren restored the door and donated it to the Kyogle and District Historical Society.

If you recognise a family cattle or log brand on the door, please contact thesociety on 6632 1672.
